Prius – First Scratch

I have no idea how it happened, but just behind the rear passenger door is a small, curved scratch, about the length of my finger, and just deep enough to show the primer underneath. Now, my old car was covered in small scratches like that (well, maybe not enough to show the primer, but a common complaint about the Prius is how thin the paint is), maybe 3 dozen in total, which indicates that on average, one accumulates these small scratches at a rate of about one every four months, so to get one after a month isn’t too unusual, but I was hoping to go a little longer before having to deal with this…

I provide a public service by always having the dirtiest car so that nobody else has to suffer such a fate. So, I tend not to notice small scratches. My car has never been broken into. I’d like to think that thieves tend to go after the shiny clean cars.

My old car was like that, and it got broken into a lot :(
I still don’t quite understand why that happened. It’s like someone looked inside my car and said “hey, here’s a 12-year-old car parked in a student neighbourhood covered in scratches and hey, it’s got garbage on the floor! Who knows what kind of treasures are hidden inside! This will totally be worth the effort and risk of breaking into and rummaging around! Oooh, plastic poker chips, score!”
